2024 Tiger Trap Shooting Team
ON LINE REGISTRATION WITH FULL PAYMENT MUST BE COMPLETED TO SECURE YOUR SPOT ON THE TEAM.
Registration will only be available online and the registration form can be found at the bottom of this page (click Return Athlete or Waiting List button to go to form if present). Online registration and payment are required and the team will be filled on a first come first serve sign up. An athlete’s online registration will not be finalized until the $300.00 team fee is paid and received by team registration deadline.
The team will be held to an enrollment of 125 athletes or up to all returning athletes. Registration will be open to returning athletes currently enrolled from 7th to 12th grade. We will no longer have 6th grade athletes. If we have less than 125 returning athletes registered, the registration will open to new members from 7th to 12th grade. Our team will consist of athletes from only the Harrisburg and Sioux Falls Christian school districts. Athletes that participated last season from other school districts will be grandfathered for the remainder of their participation on the team.
A waiting list will be created for new athlete participation. The waiting list period will open January 24th and run to February 9th. Any new athletes for the 2024 season will be drawn from the waiting list in order of the timestamp of their signup. We will also communicate with all on the waiting list additional opportunities to participate as they arise throughout the year.
Expectations: This is a club sport with an exceptional amount of interest. Without question, there will be athletes who want to participate but due to a limited number of open roster spots will not be able to participate. Please make sure you and your athlete are prepared to commit to the time frame of our league. Our goal is to give our athletes the best opportunity to become better, have fun in the process and compete to their fullest potential.
Athletes will be required to complete additional forms at the first range (mandatory) night. These forms will include the Photo Release, Participatory Agreement, and Izaak Walton Waiver (only needed for returning participants) or Izaak Walton Membership form (only needed for new participants). All athletes will have a youth membership to Izaak Walton paid for by the team fees.
Athletes will once again be responsible to register themselves with the USA Clay Target League and also pay the league fee ($35.00) in addition to the team fee. This does not need to be done with the initial online team sign up. We will be sending an email for registered Harrisburg Tiger Trap team athletes with directions and team code out at a later date.
LOCATION: Izaak Walton Club of Sioux Falls, Located 1 mile north of Arrowhead road on Highway 11 (5000 N Oakview Pl).
Students will have access to the 5 trap fields during the meets, NO makeup days will be available due to the tight schedule at the club and restrictions placed by the league.
SEASON SCHEDULE:
League Start Date is March 25, 2024. Our league will be 10 weeks in duration and we will have our weekly meet each Monday night. There will be two sessions to choose from when signing up. Session 1 from 6pm to 7:30 pm and Session 2 from 7:30pm to 9pm. There will be three 1⁄2 hour slots in each session. Session availability is first come first serve based on the registration timestamp. Once your session has been established, athletes will remain in that session for the duration of the season. The time slots inside the sessions will be established weekly with the schedule being communicated via email within 48 hours of weekly meet on Monday. Based on the number of athletes and the time frame we have to work in, these schedules will not be varied or adjusted to accommodate an athlete’s outside commitments to other activities that may conflict. Athletes will shoot two rounds (two boxes of shells) consecutively. Athletes will need to be ready to shoot 15 minutes before their time slot. A safety meeting will be held before each time slot at each trap house. A full schedule is laid out below, please contact the coaching staff if you wish to discuss the schedule.

SQUADS & FIELD ROTATION
This year we will continue to squad the athletes as well as how we move the athletes around the fields according to their average scores. Squadding will be determined by the athletes running average for the season. Each Monday we will have the squadding posted at the squad board and on each scoring stand. The top 5 averages will shoot together, followed by 6-10 and so on. This is not to discriminate against any of our athletes but more so to put like averages together and simplify how we set up our fields. We will have all new athletes shoot on trap house 1 until we feel that they are ready to move into the rotation with the experienced students. Each week we will rotate within the 2 sessions the times and field numbers for our squads. For example, if your athlete is in the early session and shoots right away at 6pm week 1 they may shoot in the 2nd round at 6:30pm or the 3rd round at 7pm in the following weeks. Field assignments will also adjust each week for session and squad. All athletes will get the opportunity to shoot in each time slot during the 10 weeks, squadding changes are subject to change at any point.
